3 Steps To Create A Breakthrough Year

by Business Strategy0 comments

It’s a little crazy to think that this year is almost over and the new year is just days away. Where in the world did the year go? You may not be sure where the year went, but it’s important you know where you’ll be going in the new year so you can create a breakthrough year no matter what it looks like.

As the year winds down, I got to thinking about what I wanted this year to look like.

See, it’s one thing to consider what you want but it’s a whole other thing to plan for it.

The truth is, it costs nothing to say things like:

  • I want to double my business
  • I want to take more time off
  • I want to go on a world class vacation with my family

However, it costs time, money, resources, and commitment to actually define what you really want and then go out and make it happen.

In order to create a breakthrough year, you’ll need to invest into yourself first and foremost.

That’s actually the first of 3 steps to creating a breakthrough year.

Investing in yourself is the one thing you can do that will generate a positive ROI (return on investment) for the rest of your life. Once you gain new lessons, skills, abilities and experiences, no one (I mean NO ONE) can ever take those away from you.

How do I know?

Because when my wife and I lost our home and everything we thought was everything (I’ll share this on another occasion) back in 2008, we didn’t lose any of the knowledge, abilities, gifts or talents we already had during this terrible time in our lives.

I had invested time in developing my skills, did coaching, went to events, read books, journaled and prayed and dedicated a lot of time and money on becoming a better me. I still experience tremendous gain from things I did 10 years ago.

With that being said…

The second step to creating a breakthrough year is to focus on going deep rather than wide.

What do I mean by going deep?

What I mean is, make sure your home and your business are firmly planted on what matters most.

When I first started doing business online, back in 2007, I jumped from one thing to another… from opportunity to opportunity. When there was a good opportunity someone, I’d leave the one I was currently working on and start something new.

I wanted to help people but there was no solid foundation to build a real business on… and so I didn’t really have a profitable business for almost 2 years.

However, when I started narrowing down on the best work I can do to help people get the biggest results in their life and business (training, coaching and consulting), and I focused on the people who would gain the most, not only did my business grow but my clients were getting awesome results.

When opportunities would come, I’d completely ignore them because I was already rooted deep in the work that I do. I was no longer easily swayed because I had already aligned my work to my bigger mission in life.

During storms, the trees with the deepest roots are the ones that remain standing while those with wide roots have nothing anchoring them down to keep them steady and alive.

What are the things you’re dedicated to going deep with in your life and business to make this new year a breakthrough year?

The third step to creating a breakthrough year is to surround yourself with the right support and the right environment to amplify your growth.

Years ago as I looked to grow my business, I thought it was all about learning tons of new things and that alone would help grow my business. Man, was I wrong.

I was recently looking back at my Paypal account and noticed just how many products, ebooks, courses, and other training I had purchased back in 2011 and 2012. What I realized is that I was purchasing stuff on an almost biweekly basis.

I had access to tons of information, but due to lack of implementation, there was little transformation (yes, I was a wannabe rapper in my early years 🙂

Then I started getting wiser about what I really needed to grow my business. I got more selective about investing in experiences, communities and actual useable support that was directly related to where I was taking my business which cut out all the fluff and noise that was more of a distraction than an asset.

What kind of support do you need most right now to take your business to the next level?

What distractions will you no longer allow in your business moving forward so you can create your own breakthrough year?

So there you have it, the 3 steps to creating a breakthrough year.

Here they are in a nutshell:

  • Invest in become the best you that you can be! Growth starts with who you are and how you show up in every area of your life!
  • Focus on going deeper in the things that truly matter in your life and business. The wider you go, the thinner you and your business will be which causes limitations in growth.
  • Surround yourself with with the exact support your need to amplify your business, and shut off everything else! If you’re going to go further in next year than you did last year, it’s only because you’re cutting off the things that held you back.

Take some time to reflect on this email and actually answer the questions. The more time you spend designing your year, the less time you’ll need to refine throughout the year.

OH YEAH, ONE LAST THING >>
