Is It Ever Too Late To Start Your Own Business?

by Business Strategy8 comments

Many people aspire to have their own business and have hopes and dreams of creating freedom for themselves by serving people as entrepreneurs. Some have a desire for business at a very early age and others develop the desire later in life after having experienced life as an employee.

I started my first business when I was just 13 years old installing car stereos for my friends. Basically I installed the radio for one friend and then he’d go and tell others and soon enough I was doing three cars a week which was pretty good money considering I was only 13. That was my first experience in starting my own business and it was quite fun too.

Then at the age of 21 I started another business. This one was a mortgage company and it required a whole a lot more than my car stereo installation business. My latest business was formed in 2008 and that’s my current marketing and sales consulting and coaching company and I’m well into my 30s now.

So why do I share this?

The reason I share my story is because while I started young I never stopped creating businesses that support the type of lifestyle I want and the type of work that I truly love.

I have a good friend who’s been in business for 30 or 40 years and he started a coaching company a year ago.  He loves the work that he’s doing and found a way to create a business that gives him the freedom to do what he loves while still making good money serving people.

Now I ask you, if you’re looking to start a business, what’s holding you back?

I hope you understand that age shouldn’t hold you back. The length of time you’ve been holding on to your dream shouldn’t hold you back either.

In fact, Richard Branson, the founder of Virgin Airlines, has created several businesses and he’s in his 60s. It seems that he creates new businesses each and every year. He is on a mission to change lives so he’s set his mind to believe that it’s never to late.

Someone once said the best time to start something was 10 years ago and then next best time to start is today.

Make today the day you decide that it’s not too late. There’s still time to start your own business. There’s plenty of opportunity for you. But it all starts with one simple decision.

Ok, now it’s your turn.
