The Journey Towards God’s Will For Christian Entrepreneurs
Have you ever played the children’s game Pin the Tail on the Donkey?
I was at my goddaughter’s first birthday party over the weekend and I noticed all the kids playing that game.
I kept observing how the kids were blindfolded and spun around before they were sent on their way to that donkey. They had a clear goal, the donkey, yet they couldn’t see exactly how to get there.
The Journey Towards God For Christian Entrepreneurs Is Just Like Pin The Tail On The Donkey
It was July 2011 when God impressed upon me to create a community for Christian entrepreneurs. It was something that had been in my heart for close to six years but in 2011, it was made clear to me what I needed to do.
I quickly moved in that direction by starting a local Meetup group in Chicago and there were from 2-15 Christian Entrepreneurs that would get together every two weeks.
While we weren’t a huge group, we were all being sharpened by God’s word and forming great relationships. Things were moving along and God was slowly expanding his plan for me and the people he wanted me to serve.
Unfortunately, things were moving at a slower pace than I imagined and I went back to doing business as I did before.
Yup, I totally abandoned what God had so clearly given me.
Where We Usually Go Wrong
When God calls us for his purpose he doesn’t give it to us all at once. He gives us enough to take just the next step. It feels like we’re blindfolded, spun around and left to figure things out on our own. It’s not always easy to stay on track.
It’s in the moments when we feel out of control that we abandon the plan God has for us and end up scrambling around trying to find our way.
That’s where I’ve found myself over the last year. Sure things have moved forward in my business. The challenge I’ve faced however is a constant pulling and tugging back to the calling God has for me since he knows the plan is best for me and for the people that will be impacted by it.
In fact, here’s what God’s word says about it:
“Jeremiah 29:11 – For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
You’re Never Left Alone With God
This all brings me back to my own journey. Here I am moving forward on God’s plan in creating the Christian Business Academy. It’s a year later than I should have begun and yet God still allows me to participate in his will for this community.
You see, in Pin the Tail on the Donkey, while the kids were blindfolder, their parents and loved ones surrounded them at all times to protect them and protect everyone around them. They were being encouraged every step of the way. Everyone came together to help each and every child reach their goal of hitting the target; the donkey.
